Description
The Department for Education intends to directly award a contract to AQA Education for the development and launch of a GCSE qualification in Ukrainian, subject to Ofqual approval. The qualification will enable learners in England, including displaced Ukrainian learners, to gain formal recognition of their Ukrainian language skills.

The Department engaged all recognised GCSE awarding organisations to ascertain their willingness and ability to develop and deliver a GCSE qualification in Ukrainian. AQA was the only awarding organisation willing and able to undertake the requirement. The Department therefore concluded that no reasonable alternative supplier was available.
