Description

Monmouthshire County Council owns and manages Clydach Ironworks, a protected Scheduled Monument founded around 1795, and located at Grid Reference SO 229 132, on the southern bank of the River Clydach at the lower end of the Clydach Gorge, near Abergavenny. The nearest post code is NP7 0LR. Site inspections and reporting were undertaken in March 2021. Following on from this, several phases of targeted consolidation works have been undertaken to preserve the historic fabric of the monument. These consolidation works have been prioritised with early phases focused on clearing vegetation and temporary works to arrest deterioration, with latter phases transitioning to permanent repairs, replacement and rebuilding works. Further phases of intervention are now planned for Clydach Ironworks. These works are a prioritised package of works to implement permanent repairs to areas previously temporarily supported and more complex areas of intervention. To facilitate and support these works, Monmouthshire County Council now requires the services of a consultant to provide Civil and Structural Engineering, Principal Designer and Project Management roles as lead consultant from award of tender to completion of the construction works. For a detailed breakdown of required services and outputs, please quote request brief available from Sell2Wales.
