Description

The Consultant will provide strategic leadership, management and improvement support to Isle of Wight Council's SEND Service. The consultant will strengthen leadership capacity across the Statutory SEND Team and Neurodivergent Team, ensuring the effective delivery of statutory SEND responsibilities, implementation of the Council's Autism Strategy, and continuous improvement in outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Please refer to UK5 and UK6 notice as to the background. The standstill concluded midnight on 19 October 2026.

The service was facing a prolonged inability to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced SEND Manager, creating a significant risk to the Council's ability to meet its statutory SEND responsibilities and deliver the required improvements across the service. The consultancy arrangement was therefore pursued to provide immediate strategic leadership and management capacity while a sustainable long-term solution is established.
